Wall Ball Masters Results

It was a fantastic Wall Ball Masters tournament.  We saw endless amounts of dives, jumps, twists, crazy hits, and fun.  What we did not see were tears.  Instead we saw hand shakes, high fives, fist bumps and we heard "Good game", "That was a fun game", "You are fun to play",  and more.

Every competitor was a good sport.  Some work hard all year long to play well in this tournament.  Sometimes it does not go as expected.  Regardless, the competitors handled winning or losing in an amazing manner that blows me away.  So proud.

The Wall Ball Masters tournament concludes with each classroom winner competing in their Grade Level Championship.  These are the results...

Wall Ball Masters coming in March!

Attention, Wall Ball enthusiasts!

Our annual Wall Ball Masters tournament is coming soon!  It will begin in the middle of March before Spring Break.  Students in Grades 2-5 will have the OPTION to participate in the Wall Ball Masters during their PE classes.

We will also have many other activities students will be working on during that same time.

It's a chance for players to put their skills and sportsmanship to the test!

P.E. Showcase

Our Sexton Mountain students were fantastic performers at the 2016 P.E. Showcase held Thursday, March 17 at Beaverton High School!

They played a new game that is sweeping the nation from coast-to-coast for all ages...Spikeball.  It is a 2 vs. 2 roundnet game that is a mash-up of volleyball and 4-square.  It can be found at many sporting goods store (like Dick's Sporting Goods) and online (like Amazon).

Each elementary school could bring a group of students to perform a P.E. activity that represents a part of what is going on in P.E. classes in the 21st century.

I really enjoyed seeing our 32 4th and 5th graders perform a challenging game in front of hundreds of people in big environment.  The worked hard to prepare and were flawless in their performance.

Way to go, Eagles!

March All-Stars

We like to recognize All-Stars in P.E. class.  An All-Star is someone who tries their best at everything...playing well with others, following directions, making good choices, helping others, using teamwork, being a good sport, playing safely, trying new and challenging tasks, and more.

Running fast, scoring goals, making baskets, evading captors, winning contests are all fun and exciting, but there are outcomes of effort.  Sometimes there are out of our control.

Therefore, we reward the process...effort and growth.  Everyone controls their effort...which often produces growth.  No matter how big or small, growth is growth.  Kids do notice it.

Here are the students who were recognized this week in P.E. for their effort.  There were definitely more All-Star efforts in P.E. than just from these students.  I look forward to recognizing more students next week!
