GRADES 3-5
(games & activities & concepts were adjusted according to grade/age level)
Physical Skills - Hand Striking, Underhand Volley, Racquet Striking, Locomotor Skills (skip, gallop, side slide, carioca, etc.), various exercises and fitness workouts
Games Included - Eclipse Ball, Nitro Ball, various 4-Square games, Wall Ball, Ping Pong, Pickle Ball, Spikeball, various tag games
Fitness Concepts - Heart Rate - calculate it, benefits, heart rate zones, recommendations; the Fitness Component Cardio exercise
Games Included - various tag games, fitness workouts, daily warm-ups
Social Skills - Being a Good Sport: support teammates, praise others, playing by the rules, focus on fun/effort rather than winning or losing; Being a Good Teammate: cooperate, support, strategize together; Game Tactics: understanding positions, roles, in game strategizing
Games included - Survivor, Treasure Island, 4-Corners Capture the Flag, Team Color Tag, Shipwreck, Nitro Ball, Eclipse Ball
GRADE 2
(the focus here is continuing to build the foundation of many skills, important of physical activity, how to physical play in non-competitive and competitive situations, and to build confidence)
Physical Skills - Hand Striking, Underhand Toss, Locomotor Skills (skip, gallop, side slide, carioca, etc.), various manipulatives (jump rope, hula hoop, long jump rope, spin jammers, etc.)
Games Included - Wall, 4-Square, Tetherball, Pumpkin Patch, Scoops, Spin Jammers, Hula Hoops, Jump Rope, turning a Long Jump Rope, Turtle Toss, Partner Toss activities, Wishing Well, Zombie Invasion, Take-A-Chance
Fitness Concepts - Heart Rate - finding pulse, benefits of a strong heart; Endurance - longer you play & harder you try, the stronger & better you get
Games Included - various tag games, fitness workouts, daily warm-ups
Social Skills - Being a Good Sport: support teammates, playing by the rules, having fun is more important than winning or losing; Being a Good Teammate: work together, help each other; Being Ready for PE: focus on being a good listener, a safe player, following routines with and without prompts, making good choices
Games included - Survivor, Treasure Island, Capture the Flag, Team Color Tag, Team Beanbag Tag, Wishing Well
